We are pleased that the data presented by Evans et al. support our concern about the adequacy of the Amsterdam criteria in the characterization of the HNPCC syndrome. Evans et al. refer to their study of 1329 consecutive colorectal cancer case patients, in which they found that 10% of the case patients had a positive family history . . .
